Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to patients experiencing mental health issues, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualised care plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ mental health status and needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans in collaboration with patients and the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions.
- Provide emotional support and counselling to patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with legal and organisational standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients by adhering to health and safety regulations.
Skills
- Strong understanding of patient care principles, particularly in mental health settings.
- Knowledge of anatomy to assist in understanding the physical aspects of mental health conditions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Empathy and compassion for individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and care planning.
- Resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
